The music behind this track is absolutely phenomenal. As everything else they do Seventeen has provided a truly quality track, both lyrically as well as vocally. Of course, the performance, and video themselves are also outstanding.
The music begins slowly, as shots of the members are shown through the crosshairs of a camera. Each member is shown in participating in a variety of activities, from practicing to the actual recording of the music. In the video, viewers are gifted with beautiful shots of each member, as well as group shots. Every second of this song (and the accompanying MV) is truly an experience, with the songs smooth vocals and powerful rap breaks.
“Thanks” is not only visually beautiful but both audibly and lyrically gorgeous. The song itself describes the singer as trying to desperately have the listener understand how they feel, yet the best word they can come up with is “Thanks.” Feeling that the word isn’t enough, yet it is all that they have. Through the buildup of the music coupled with the emotion in each members’ voice as they perform this song leads to an extremely emotional response as the listener can feel the passion in this song.
Personally, my favorite line in the song (translated into English) is “Because I want to be your tomorrow/ I lived through today/ From the first day that I saw you/ Until right now/ You’re the only one in my heart.” It is a truly beautiful song and it holds such a beautiful meaning.
