BTS’s beloved leader has officially confirmed his stage name has changed!
On November 13, 2017, Rap Monster, now RM, posted on the group’s official fan cafe confirming the change of his stage name.
He stated that he’s been promoting under the stage name of Rap Monster since 2012, so for about 5 years. He stated that “It was a stage name that I naturally came to be called among our company family members and my members, after a line in a song I’d made as a trainee, and I think I became very fond of it.”.
The name was a bit long for normal promotions though, and over the years, he realized it wasn’t quite what he was looking for. He started to introduce himself as Rapmon or RM. Most fans refer to him with those names with affection too.
Now, he’s decided that for promotional material, he wants to use the name RM. It has a wider spectrum and is easier to use due to it’s length. He’s already released music and mixtapes under RM as well.
He went on to state that it might be a bit awkward as people get used to the change, but he hopes fans will support his decision and will be grateful if they call him RM.
RM is definitely less of a mouthful!
