Dreamcatcher Takes Wins For Best Female Rookie Group, Best Female Performance, and Best Overall Female Group

Sharing is caring!

As promised, OSKP wants to do a special dedication for the lovely winners of the 2017 OSKP Awards. First up on our list, Dreamcatcher!

Dreamcatcher is a girl group under Happy Face Entertainment.  They originally formed with the name MINX with only five members in 2014, but didn’t find the success they wanted.  In November of 2016, the group announced plans to re-debut under a new name with two additional members!

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how the lovely group, consisting of JiU, SuA, Siyeon, Handong, Yoohyeon, Dami and Gahyeon, was born.

Under MINX, the group released “Love Shake”, which shows a drastically different style than you’d see from these ladies now!  The bright and cheerful summer track had a peppy beat and was adorable!

While the video was beyond adorable, many fans would agree that Dreamcatcher’s new style and theme seem to suit them better.  When they re-debuted with Nightmare featuring “Chase Me” in January of 2017, they made a bold statement.  Combining dark themes and rock style is pretty uncommon amongst girl groups, who tend to go for a ‘cuter’ vibe.

Chase Me” had a strong theme reminiscent of the movie The Shining.  Despite the eerie vibe and creepy scenes, the song itself was beautifully accompanied by piano and an energetic chorus!

The ladies also proved that they could pull off the elegant, yet creepy, vibe with ease and set the stage even higher for their next release.

They even showed up a more punk style in their special clip for “Lucky Strike” released on February of 2017.  The clip was powerful and energetic with heavy guitar and drums accompanying their catchy vocals.   Pair that with their sass and punk rock style, and it’s enough for anyone to fall in love!

These ladies won the love of the Thai princess Her Royal Highness Mom Rajadarasri Jayankura!  The princess had been a fan of the girls since debut and went out of her way to greet them (and give them hugs)!

In April of 2017, the group released their second album, Fall Asleep In The Mirror featuring the track “Good Night“.  The girl’s stepped it up from their previous video in this release! That was a difficult feat in itself!  They continued the story started in “Chase Me” and built on it in an eerie way; combining old fashioned style with modern rock.

Most recently the group released their first full EP called Prequel featuring “Fly High“.  The teasers and music video both had two sides to them; an eerie side and a innocent, sweet side.  The ability to pull off both, especially in the same video, was incredible.

We can’t even begin to get started on the incredible vocals and raps featured throughout their videos!

The group began their first world tour recently, pulling out of the competition for MIX NINE.  While it’s unclear what impacts that decision will have, the votes in the OSKP Awards are clear enough; they’re loved!

If you’re new to the group, be sure to check out the videos above and get to know these lovely ladies.  After all, they didn’t win Best Female Rookie, Best Female Performance, and Best Overall Female Group for nothing!

Congratulations to the group and their fans once again for their success in winning in three categories for the 2017 OSKP Awards!
