As the 3rd anniversary of Ladies’ Code EunB and RiSe’s passing, OSKP wanted to do a dedication to the group and the lovely ladies who lost their lives.

Who is Ladies’ Code?

Ladies’ Code was originally formed by Polaris Entertainment back in 2013.  Their company, a subsidiary if Ilkwang group and also home to Loona, pulled together quite a few members with various experience in the entertainment industry to form the group.

Ladies’ Code consisted of 5 members; Ashley, Sojung, Zuny, EubB, and RiSe.  Among the members, EunB was a former trainee of FNC Entertainment and was in the line-up for AOA.  RiSe was a participant in Miss Korea 2009 and was also on Star Audition: The Great Birth  and We Got Married.  Sojung was a participant in the first season of The Voice of Korea.  The remaining two members were no strangers to the industry either, with Ashley known for YouTube covers of K-Pop songs and Zuny being former a BigHit Entertainment trainee.

Debut

The group made their debut on March 7, 2013 with the track “Bad Girl”.  They won New Artist of the Year in 2013’s Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards thanks to that track.

The group charted well, and eventually followed their debut track with “Hate You” on August 6, 2013.  They released their second mini album on September 5, 2013 which a good amount of success.

The group was working on a new album, as announced on September 1, 2014, however, things took a turn for the worst.

Car Accident

An unfortunate accident occurred on September 3, 2014 at approximately 1:30 am KST. While returning from their last recording after finishing their promotions for “Kiss Kiss”, the group was in a car accident.  Their manager was speeding and with the rainy conditions of the road, he lost control of the vehicle and they ended up crashing into a protective wall.

Sojung’s condition was stabilized, and the other members only suffered minor injuries.  Unfortunately, after multiple surgeries and attempts to resuscitate, RiSe passed away 4 days after the accident.

It was reported that none of the air bags had deployed during the accident.

Aftermath

The group’s tracks shot to first on the music charts, fulfilling EunB’s dream of ranking first.

The members returned to their dorm, and after counseling and treatments, decided to stay together.

Their manager was sentenced to a year and two months in prison, and paid settlements with the families of EunB and RiSe.

Since the accident, the group has released a couple of tracks, including “Galaxy”.  They’ve also focused heavily on their solo promotions, with Sojung releasing a track titled “Better than Me” in May of 2017.
